Bishop Anthony C. Hanna
Bishop Anthony Craig Hanna, Sr. was born on December 9, 1966 in Philadelphia, PA and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1977 at the First African Baptist Church Sharon Hill, PA under the leadership of Dr. Jerry William Dailey where Rev. Dr. Richard A. Dent is pastor.
Bishop Hanna graduated in 1985 from Academy Park High School Sharon Hill, PA. He then graduated from Eastern University, St. Davids, PA in 1989 with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. In 2001 he graduated from the New Life Ecumenical Bible Institute of Atlantic City, NJ with a Diploma in Biblical Studies & Theology. He also received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from St. Thomas Christian College of Jacksonville, FL, December 9, 2012.
He preached his first sermon on Sunday, October 11, 1982 at First African Baptist Church of Sharon Hill and was later Licensed to Preach the Gospel on Sunday, November 22, 1982. Several years later on Sunday, April 30, 1989 he was Ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the Eastern Keystone Baptist Association under the leadership of the late Moderator Pastor Matthew Williams.
Shortly after Bishop Hanna’s ordination he served as Spiritual Youth Advisor at First African Baptist Church; under his leadership the youth began feeding the homeless in Philadelphia and began the Annual Youth Retreat. Both ministries are still going on at First African today. Bishop later served as Youth Pastor of the Greater Deborah Tabernacle Baptist Church of Philadelphia under the former Pastor Bishop Matthew M. Haskell, Jr. After serving there he began to serve as an Associate Minister at the 59th Street Baptist Church of Philadelphia preaching at their 7:45 A.M. services under the leadership of the late Pastor Benjamin F. Powell.
After graduating from college, Bishop began a teaching career where he has taught from Elementary to High School and now serves as a 2nd Grade Teacher at the Frederick Douglass Christian School in Chester, PA.
In June, 1991 Bishop was called to the Cathedral St. Mark Christian Community Church in Chester, PA where after 23 years still serves as Senior Pastor. His tenure at St. Mark bears much fruit and many souls have been led to Christ. It was at the church that he met and married the former Althea J. Holland and they are the proud parents of Bryanna Latrice, Lachelle Marie, Anisha Clarisse and Anthony Craig, Jr. Along with being the happy grandparents of Jeremiah Anthony, Kareem LaQuan, Jr., Kalesse Lynae
Bishop Hanna has served and is serving outside of The Cathedral St. Mark; he has served as the Pastor President of the former Local Pastors Association of Chester and Vicinity, served as the First Overseer of the Ecumenical Council of the former New Life Ecumenical Church Fellowship, Apostolic See Atlantic City, NJ under the leadership of Archbishop Sherman R. Mosley. He now serves at the State Correctional Institute of Chester, preaching at their weekly Sunday Morning Services; serves as member of the Ministerial Fellowship of Chester & Vicinity, the Hampton University Ministers Conference and the House of Bishop of the United Covenant Churches of Christ under the leadership of Bishop Eric D. Garnes, Apostolic See Brooklyn, NY; where he also serves as Suffragan Bishop for the State of Pennsylvania. He is also member of the Joint College of African American Pentecostal Bishops under the leadership of Archbishop J. Delano Ellis, Apostolic See Cleveland, OH and a member of the North America Bishops Congress under the leadership of Archbishop William E. Brown, Apostolic See Memphis, Tennessee.
Bishop Hanna, along with 7 other Pastors & Ministers began the Faith Fellowship of Churches & Ministries, Inc. in February 2006 which is a fellowship of Bible-believing churches, ministries, Pastors, Elders, Ministers and laity that walk, live and serve God by faith and encourages one another to reach their God-given destiny. Along with establishing the Faith Fellowship School of Ministry, that partners with Chesapeake Bible College & Seminary, Ridgley, MD. This fellowship elected Bishop Hanna as the Presiding Bishop/General Overseer on October 15, 2006 and he was consecrated Bishop On Saturday, June 20, 2009 with full Apostolic Succession.
Bishop Hanna’s life motto is “All I want to do is serve God for the rest of my life wherever He places me!”
